SAMT’s Statement on the Anniversary of its Establishment

Congratulations to the great SAMT family on the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Organization for Researching and Composing University Textbooks in Islamic Sciences and the Humanities (SAMT).

February 25, 2025, as the 40th anniversary of the establishment of SAMT, is cherished due to the Organization’s unparalleled role to develop academic content for university textbooks, practice textbooks and reference books by the grace of glorious God, and with the generous cooperation of the learned seminary and university professors, as well as the efforts of its hardworking employees, including the current, retired, and deceased employees who contributed to this great achievement. Forty years ago, the late Supreme Leader, Hazrat Imam Khomeini (May he rest in grace and peace) suggested the establishment of SAMT and donated a fortunate gift of 10 million Rials for this purpose, and thus the organization was established under the supervision of the late Master, Hujjat al-Islam Wal-Muslimeen Dr. Ahmadi (May he rest easy in grace and peace). To date, SAMT has offered about 2,700 book titles (with a circulation of more than 43 million copies) at a low price of about 1:3 to 1:2 of the market price and has made a great effort to reduce the cost of university textbooks. Today, after 40 years, with the promotion of university priorities, SAMT's valuable scientific support as a huge scientific reserve has matured so that it can pave the way for a transformation in the field of scientific resources production in the Islamic humanities of Iran and pay attention to the capacities of the virtual world in book preparation and presentation, reducing the distance between the audience and the organization by developing a virtual communication bridge, playing a role in expanding educational justice and presenting standard books in Iran, paying special attention to Persian language teaching, and working in the field of specialized language teaching (ESP) in various fields and in accordance with Islamic, national and Iranian values. SAMT organization is trying to play a leading role in university textbooks development, paying special attention to new software movements, producing indigenous Islamic-Iranian resources, and indigenous knowledge. It can be said that the main goal of SAMT is to spearhead the movement of producing university textbooks.

In addition, SAMT by producing about one million pages of academic content, and considering the necessity of reviewing and updating this huge content, has provided a suitable basis for further efforts in providing resources and textbooks for universities in the region in particular, and in the world in general. The fact that more than 210 book titles (nearly 10 percent of SAMT's published works) have been awarded in prestigious festivals in Iran reflects forty years of efforts by the organization. Now, by the grace of God, with utilizing modern technologies, the ground is ready for a comprehensive leap by the organization and it is hoped that with the material and moral support of the valuable officials of the system, we will witness the scientific authority of this organization in the regional and international arena in the future.
